Things That Should Be Included in a Pre-purchase Inspection

If you are in the market for a used car, you can count on us for the pre-purchase inspection. This inspection is important to make certain that you are not buying a lemon. Even if the vehicle has been certified by a dealer service department, you should still have an independent auto repair shop assess the vehicle to make sure that you can rely on it for years to come.

Damage Assessment

One of the things that should be included in a pre-purchase inspection is a damage assessment. In other words, the vehicle should be inspected thoroughly to make sure it has never been in an accident. Some people are less than honest when they turn their cars into the dealer. Consequently, the vehicle may have been involved in an incident that was not reported.

Fire Assessment

Another thing that we include in our inspection is a fire assessment. Perhaps the vehicle has never been in an accident but it did catch on fire. If the damage was repaired, you may not be able to tell with the naked eye that the vehicle was subject to fire damage. We will inspect the automobile and the electrical system thoroughly to make sure this is not the case.

Flood Assessment

You also do not want to buy a used car that was flooded. This can cause problems with the vehicle including hidden areas where mold and mildew have grown. We will check the used car that you wish to purchase to see if there are signs that it has been in the flood. If there are signs of flooding, we encourage you to keep looking for a used car.

Engine Assessment

Naturally, a pre-purchase inspection involves more than kicking the tires. As such, we will inspect and test the vehicle from the roof to the tires. We will check every system, every component, every accessory, and the engine to look for problems. This includes minor things such as worn belts or hoses. We want to make sure the used car is like new.

Finally, a diagnostic test can reveal a lot about the used car, including whether there is anything seriously wrong that is invisible to the naked eye. If you bring the used car to our shop, we will also run a diagnostic test to retrieve the data from the engine control unit. Call us today to schedule an appointment for a pre-purchase inspection.
