Can I Get My Car’s Engine Replaced?

Yes, you can get your car’s engine replaced if you would like to keep the automobile. Perhaps you drive a classic car or the vehicle of your dreams. As such, getting rid of the automobile is not an option. Thankfully, our certified technicians can replace your engine if it needs it. In some cases, we may be able to save you some expense by rebuilding the engine.

Contaminated Motor Oil

Unfortunately, this is not the case if your motor oil is contaminated, however. Contaminated motor oil can damage the engine beyond repair. It can also be a sign that the engine is already damaged beyond repair. For example, if the motor oil is contaminated by metal shavings, the engine is disintegrating. Metal flakes enter the oil as it flows over the engine parts.

Excessive Engine Exhaust

We may be able to get by with an engine rebuild if your tailpipe is releasing excessive exhaust smoke. This is a sign that you have leaking fluid in the engine. We don’t mean tiny drips. We mean a serious fluid leak. If the exhaust is gray or blue, the engine is leaking motor oil. If the exhaust is white, the engine is leaking coolant. If the exhaust is black, the engine is leaking fuel.

Knocking All the Time

It can be frustrating if your engine is knocking all the time. This can be a sign that you need to increase the octane rating of the fuel that you use. If this does not resolve the problem, you may have worn rod bearings in the cylinder block. We can get by with a partial engine rebuild to replace the rod bearings. This will resolve the knocking sounds coming from the engine.

Overheating All the Time

We may also be able to solve your overheating problem by rebuilding the engine. In fact, the fix may be as simple as replacing the cooling system, although this does take extensive work. There are other reasons why your engine will overheat all the time, however. These reasons include a blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder block.

Significant Power Loss

Finally, we will have to replace the engine if it is experiencing significant power loss. When the engine gets too old, it is no longer able to produce power. It doesn’t matter what we do. The engine is simply done.

If you are having any of the problems discussed above, call us to schedule a service visit. We will inspect the engine and provide you with a detailed estimate of the repairs.
