If your diesel engine has suddenly become really noisy, you may have a problem with the fuel injectors. This will create a loud knocking sound. An excessively noisy engine also indicates that it is overdue for service or repair. JTR Repair can inspect your engine to figure out why it is so loud and repair the problem. This is just one problem we fix. Here are other diesel engine problems we repair.
Starting Difficulties
Another sign that your diesel engine is overdue for service is starting difficulties. Even though diesel engines crank more often than gasoline engines do before they start, your engine should fire up relatively quickly. If it doesn’t, it needs to be serviced. If you fail to have the engine service, you may end up being unable to start your automobile at all.
Power Loss
If your diesel engine is losing power, you likely have a fuel delivery problem. This can happen when the fuel filter or fuel injectors get clogged. Another reason why you lose power is if your throttle linkage is too loose. Finally, too much lubrication can also affect your diesel engine’s power. We can inspect your diesel engine to determine the cause of its power loss.
Contaminated Fuel
It’s easier for diesel fuel to get contaminated than it is for gasoline to get contaminated because diesel fuel is thicker. The common contaminants you will find in diesel fuel include water, glycol, and soot. If any of these contaminants make their way into your engine, they will damage it.
Excess Exhaust
Your diesel engine releases exhaust but it shouldn’t become a smokestack. If you see a ton of black exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe, you have an imbalance of air and fuel in the combustion chamber that is fuel-rich. You might also have a clogged air filter.
Oxidized Oil
Finally, if your diesel engine has been sitting around for a while without being run, the oil has likely oxidized. If you drive your diesel automobile with oxidized oil, you will seriously damage the engine. It’s important to change the oil before you drive the automobile if it hasn’t been driven in a few months.
